Medway Pride will always stand by the Trans+ community.

Friday’s announcement has caused a lot of concern and fear within the Trans+ community. They are our friends, our family, our neighbours, our organisers. We know this time is scary, but you are not alone in this fight.

Friday saw draft EHRC guidance put before Parliament. It is over 340 pages long. Its full impact is still being digested, but it seems to amount to little more than trans segregation.

This month, we have seen the UK drop to 22nd from 1st in 2015 on ILGA’s list of European countries. This move would undoubtedly see the UK drop even further.

There is a 40-day consultation period, and we urge you all to write to your MP to express your concern over this draft guidance, ensure scrutiny, and ask for an inclusive approach. We wish to dissuade any organisation or business in Medway from making rushed moves in response to this announcement. Remember, exclusion is not mandatory.
