What is Medway Pride 26

Medway Pride 26 is an LGBTQIA+ Community Event where everyone is welcome to celebrate diversity and inclusion with the LGBTQIA+ community of Medway & Beyond

This year we will be working with our partner organisations to deliver Medway Pride 26 Festival and Medway Pride Fringe 26 Festival.

Medway Pride Fringe 26 is a week long free to attend festival with multiple creative, interactive, informative, entertaining events, highlighting LGBTQIA+ community though art, music, comedy, workshops, exhibitions, films and discussions held at venues and locations in Medway from 15th to 23rd August 2026.

Medway Pride 26 Festival takes place at Rochester Castle on 22nd August 2026, commencing with a pride parade along Rochester High Street, with a 8 hour stage show withing Rochester Castle Gardens. There will also be a large market place withing the castle gardens that will include food and bar facilities, stalls providing memorabilia and representation from our sponsor, LGBTQIA+ support organisations, health and wellbeing service providers.

The festival events are managed by a consortium of organisations lead by Medway Pride CIC a not for profit company owned and managed by volunteers. 

All funding raised is used to provide the events we produce and services we deliver for the LGBTQIA+ community.

We need to raise approximately £95,000.00 per annum to cover the cost of our annual events and the services we provide to support LGBTQIA+ community members of Medway and the surrounding area.

Medway Pride 2026 & Medway Pride Fringe are LGBTQIA+ community cohesion events which aim to bring all Medway communities, together to support equality and Inclusion of all people and celebrate

build on the success of Medway Pride 2021, 2022, 2023 2024 & 2025

Medway Pride Fringe events take place in the INTRA area of Chatham & Rochester with opportunities for other venues across Medway to host their own Fringe Pride events.

Medway Pride 2026 plans will include a festival parade along Rochester High Street to Rochester
Castle, with participants from all communities, sponsors, members, or allies of the
LGBTQIA+ communities of Medway and beyond. The parade will end with a community
festival at Rochester Castle with stage-based entertainment, community stalls, and local
supportive businesses providing food, drink and memorabilia.

Pride events throughout the UK are self-funded, meaning that we raise the funding for them ourselves with support from sponsors, grant providers, and community donations. Medway Pride CIC is looking to partner with businesses and organisations to create lasting relationships between them and the LGBTQIA+ community.

Medway Pride CIC is a not for profit community organisation which aims to promote
equality and diversity across all communities of Medway for the public benefit and in
particular the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender
identity especially for those living in Medway and the surrounding areas in particular but not
exclusively by:

• Raising awareness and educating the public about the issues and difficulties affecting the lives of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer & Intersex (LGBTQIA+) people.
• Cultivating a sentiment in favour of equality and diversity in particular through celebrating the diversity of the LGBTQI+ community.
• Staging an annual LGBTQI+ festival and smaller events, including regular social events for the LGBTQI+ community in a safe environment throughout the year.
• Raising funding for voluntary organisations which support diversity and inclusion of LGBTQIA+ communities in Medway.

Medway Pride CIC promote community events that invite all Medway communities to
come together to support diversity and Inclusion for everyone, with the LGBTQIA+
communities of Medway. Medway Pride 2026 is a community project organised by
volunteers and LGBTQIA+ organisations working in Medway.
